Capital One CFO joins high growth FinTech Salary Finance

Salary linked benefits provider Salary Finance has welcomed Neil Herbert to its leadership team as the firm’s new Group Chief Finance Officer (CFO) responsible for the financial function globally.

Previously CFO at Capital One (Europe) PLC, Neil has an impressive track record in the financial services industry. During his 17 years at Capital One Neil held the roles of CFO and Vice President as well as becoming the firm’s first Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer in the UK.

During his career Neil’s expertise has been recognized through a number of professional awards, including Director of Finance’s Global CFO of the Year, Global Finance Team of the Year and Finance Director’s Blue Chip Finance Team of the Year.

He is also an Independent Governor on the Board of the University of Lincoln and previously served as a Board Director of Enactus UK, the UK’s leading youth social action and enterprise charity.

Talking about the decision to take on a new role, Neil said: “I wanted to do something a bit different from my previous roles. It’s always been important to me to work in a business with real social purpose that I could be proud to be part of. I also wanted to find myself somewhere that’s using innovation and technology to solve real human problems.

“When I met up with the team at Salary Finance and heard the way they talked about the business I was sold and knew I would be able to use my skills and experience to make a difference.”

The role will see Neil working with the team at Salary Finance to build the business and grow a product range that supports the financial wellbeing of employees across the UK and USA.

Asesh Sarkar, CEO and co-founder of Salary Finance said: “Salary Finance is on a high growth trajectory and we are delighted to welcome Neil to the leadership team at an exciting time. Neil brings valuable experience from his time as CFO at Capital One, and we share the same philosophy on aligning finance with social purpose.”
